Three Kings Day
Every year, the Puerto Rican Heritage Society celebrates Three Kings Day through a public event with the children of San Antonio. It’s a very special holiday in Puerto Rico.
On the eve of El Día de Reyes, children prepare for the visit of Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar by adding grass inside a shoe box for the Kings’ camel. They then place the box under their beds. The next morning, the grass is gone and the children find gifts left by the Three Kings.
It is a joyful day for the entire family. Las Navidades in Puerto Rico are full of family gatherings, traditions, music, joy and friendship. The spirit of the season is contagious.
Three Kings Day amid covid-19 pandemic
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, The Puerto Rican Heritage Society held private drive-through Three Kings Day celebrations in 2021 and 2022, providing toys for children served by the Children’s Rehabilitation Institute TeletonUSA (CRIT-USA). Our community’s health and safety is of the upmost importance to us. Please check back in for information on how we will proceed with Three Kings Day celebrations for January 2023.
